Lionel Messi continues to be linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires on June 30, and Mauricio Pochettino could try to lure him to France.
The two are both Argentinian and have a shared love of Newell’s Old Boys, although their allegiances in Spain are on either side of the Catalan derby divide.
Pochettino, while reluctant to go into details, hinted that he would like to have Messi in his team.
“We share a love for Newell’s, because we came through there, and that unites us,” Pochettino told El Larguero.
Curiously, Pochettino also mentioned that he is aware of Neymar’s desire to team up with his former Barcelona teammate again.
“I heard Neymar’s statements about playing next year with Messi,” he acknowledged.”I think I have to be very careful about what I say about players from other teams.”
Meanwhile, PSG are not hiding their desire to bring Messi to Paris, with sporting director Leonardo stating their intent.
“If there is a chance to sign him, we’ll be there,” said Leonardo.
