United bring back Fletcher
Former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has been appointed to the club’s first-team coaching staff.
The former Scotland captain came through the youth ranks at United before making over 300 first-team appearances and helping the club win a host of honors, including five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, and Champions League.
The 36-year-old will now step up to help with first-team duties on a full-time basis.
United manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer said on the club’s website:
Darren has the United DNA running through his veins and he knows exactly what it takes to be a Manchester United player. He is at the start of his coaching career and his experience both on and off the pitch along with his winning mentality, commitment, and hard work will be a great addition to the staff.”
Diallo ‘to go straight into first team’
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans on throwing Amad Diallo straight into the Manchester United first team, as they prepare for his long-awaited arrival.
United sanctioned a deal worth in the region of £37million to sign the highly rated Atalanta winger on the final day of the summer window.
But he has been unable to switch to the Red Devils until this month due to work permit issues.
Facundo Pellistri also signed on deadline day, but has been given time to settle in with the under-23s.
According to Goal, however, Diallo will go straight into the first team to be used on the right-hand side of the attack.
Pogba to be sold
Manchester United are resigned to selling Paul Pogba this summer in the knowledge the Frenchman will not sign a new deal.
Pogba is under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2022 but agent Mino Raiola confirmed the midfielder is “unhappy” and would like to leave.
Mirror Sport understands the United hierarchy has accepted Pogba will not pen a new contract, and this summer they will attempt to recover as much of the £89million they paid Juventus for him in 2016 as possible.
Juve is among the 27-year-old’s suitors, while Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation.
