Governor of Zamfara state, Bello Matawalle appeals to president Buhari for the deployment of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Zamfra state.
According to the governor, the state is in dire need of the squad because it helped in securing lives and properties.
The squad had been dissolved following protests from Nigerian youths across the country against it’s activities, which included, killings of innocent Nigerians, and illegal detention among others.
The protest had led the disbandment of the unit by the IG of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
But it seem as if the development doesn’t seem to have gone down well with Zamfara state Governor Bello Matawalle, who still wants the squad back in the state.
He made this know as he addressed newsmen after returning from a meeting of Northern Governors in Kaduna.
“We have recorded tremendous development in the area of peace building the Zamfara state with the commitment and professional contribution and support of the FSARS of the Nigeria Police.
“I will personally seek audience with Mr President on this issue. We need the FSARS or its equivalent in Zamfara state because we have seen their positive impact in spite their alleged excesses.”
